It was a sunny day. P

There were no clouds. P

The winds were fine. P

The waves were calm. P

The day was perfect for sailing. P

The boat was ready to sail. P

The monkey was very happy to go to sea. P

But the good weather turned bad. P

Dark clouds covered the sky. P

Winds blew stronger and stronger. P

The waves got higher and higher. P

Everyone lost their balance. P

The monkey tightly held the rope. P

People tried to fight the waves. P

But the waves were too powerful. P

The boat flipped. P

The boat was destroyed. P

People fell into the sea. P

The monkey fell too. P

"Help! Help!" the people yelled. P

People held onto pieces of wood. P

The monkey was scared. P

The monkey grabbed a piece of wood also. P

Everyone began to wait for help. P

The monkey also waited for help. P

The god of the sea, Poseidon saw. P

He saw that the people were in trouble. P

He wanted to help. P

"The people of Athens need help." he said to the dolphins. P

So he sent his loyal dolphins to go save them. P

Poseidon said, "Go save them quickly!" P

1-6 Monkey and Dolphin 6-7

The people floated on the sea. P

They yelled, "Help! Please save us!" P

Everyone saw the dolphins. P

The dolphins came and saved the people. P

The people were finally saved. P

1-7 Monkey and Dolphin 8

A dolphin carried the monkey on its back. P

"We're going to Piraeus!" the dolphin said. P

The monkey did not know what Piraeus was. P

But he wanted to show off to the dolphin. P

"Piraeus? I know him! He is a good friend of mine!" P

The monkey bragged. P

The dolphin was surprised. P

Piraeus is not a person. P

Piraeus is the name of the largest harbor in Athens. P

"He's lying! So I will have to punish him." thought the dolphin. P

The dolphin dropped the monkey, then turned around and left. P

The monkey held onto a piece of wood again and struggled. P

He was all alone in the vast ocean again. P

1-11 Little Mermaid 1-2

Once upon a time, there lived a mermaid in the ocean. P

One day, the mermaid found a statue. P

It was of the prince. P

"Oh, he's handsome!" she exclaimed. P

The mermaid found many treasures in the ocean. P

But she liked the statue the most. P

She treasured it well. P

"I wonder how the prince looks like." P

So she began to imagine what the prince looked like. P

1-12 Little Mermaid 3-4

The mermaid turned 16. P

She went up to the surface for the first time. P

She went with her sisters. P

The mermaid was very excited. P

She had never seen the world outside of the ocean. P

A storm formed in the ocean. P

"Let's go back," the sisters said. P

"It's starting to rain." P

Suddenly a wave crashed onto a ship. P

A man fell into the ocean. P

The mermaid wanted to help the man. P

1-13 Little Mermaid 5-6

"Don't worry, prince," said the mermaid. P

"I'll help you." P

She took him to the beach. P

"I'm glad that I could save you," said the mermaid. P

The man was sleeping. P

The mermaid placed him near a rock. P

She waited for the man to wake up. P

While she waited, she sang. P

Suddenly, she heard voices. P

She quickly disappeared. P

She swam back into the ocean. P

1-14 Little Mermaid 7-8

A bit later, a group of children came by. P

They discovered the man all alone. P

"It's the prince!" they cried. P

"We'd better take him to the castle." P

The mermaid was surprised. P

"So, he's the prince!" the mermaid exclaimed. P

From that day on, the mermaid watched the prince from afar. P

She hid behind a boulder. P

She watched the prince walking along the beach. P

Every night, she saw the prince. P

She hoped to become a human one day. P

"I want to become a human like the prince," she decided. P

1-16 Little Mermaid 9-10

The mermaid went to a magician. P

"You want to be a human?" he asked. P

He gave her a potion. P

But he asked for her voice in return. P

He warned, "If you can't marry the prince within a week." P

"You will die." P

The sun was setting. P

Night soon came. P

She opened the vial of potion. P

She put it to her lips. P

The mermaid drank the magic potion. P

1-17 Little Mermaid 11-12

The mermaid became a human. P

She was able to meet the prince. P

Walking down the beach they met. P

They began to like each other. P

She spent a lot of time with the prince. P

But the prince looked sad. P

"You're so beautiful," said the prince. P

"But I want to listen to the song the lady sang to me." P

The mermaid was upset. P

She did not have her voice. P

She could not sing. P

1-18 Little Mermaid 13-14

The end of the week came. P

At sunset, the magician appeared. P

"You foolish prince," he said. P

"She is the lady that saved you." P

The prince was shocked. P

"But she's going to die soon!" said the magician. P

"No, I can't let that happen," cried the prince. P

The prince battled the magician. P

He stabbed him in the chest with a huge sword. P

The magician disappeared. P

The mermaid was safe. P

1-19 Little Mermaid 15

Night came. P

The mermaid got her voice back. P

The prince realized that the mermaid saved him. P

They finally found each other. P

She and the prince had a huge wedding. P

They lived happily ever after. P
