People bring the money into the bank in order to save. P

A bank is a safe place to store money. P

Banks store money in a big safe. P

Police officers help the bank to protect itself from criminals. P

Businesses borrow money from banks. P

Money is important for people and businesses. P

People trade money for products or services. P

3-14 Doctors

Doctors and nurses work at hospitals. P

People come to the hospital when they need to see a doctor or nurse. P

Hospitals are very important. P

When people are sick or hurt, the doctor is there to help. P

Doctors examine people to find out what is wrong with them. P

Then the doctors can prescribe a medicine to cure a sick person. P

People take the medicine and they get better. P

You can also go for a check-up so that you don't get sick. P

3-15 New Year’s Eve

Many people have parties to celebrate the New Year. P

Every year in New York City, there is a party in Times Square. P

Times Square is an area where people shop, eat and sightsee. P

Valentine's Day is on February 14th. Valentine's Day symbols include hearts, doves, and Cupid. P

This is a nice holiday to tell people how much you love them. P

Mother's Day is a holiday that takes place in the month of May. P

Mother's Day is a time where people take time to honor and thank their mothers. P

Many people give their mothers cards and flowers on this day. P

Other people buy presents or candies to give to their mothers. P

Before that day, America was a part of England. P

Each year, Americans celebrate on July 4th to remember that day. P

To celebrate people have parties and eat barbeque food. P

Barbeque food in America is hotdogs, hamburgers and steak. P

When it is dark outside, people light fireworks. P

People light fireworks as a way to celebrate the holiday. P

Memorial Day is a holiday that happens each May. P

It is a holiday on the last Monday of May. P

It was once known as Decoration Day. P

Americans honor people who have died fighting in war. P

People hang the American flag outside their house on this day. P

Banks, schools and many places are closed on this day. P

Some people have parties at their house to honor the day. P

Some cities have parades to celebrate the day. P
