12. 부정사

1)부정사의 정의

부정사란?

- 딱히 품사가 정해져 있지 않은 단어들로 명사적,형용사적, 부사적 용법으로 쓰인다.

2) 부정사의 명사적 용법

(1) 주어로 쓰인 경우

Ex) To master a foreign language is quite difficult. (외국어를 마스터하는 것은 아주 어렵다.)

Ex) To know English is one thing; and to teach it, another. (영어를 아는 것과 가르치는 것은 별개다.)

(2) 진주어로 쓰인 경우

Ex) It is difficult to master a foreign language. (외국어를 마스터하는 것은 아주 어렵다.)

It is much easier to go with the tide than against it. (세상풍조에 어울려 사는 것이 더 쉽다.)

(3)동사의 목적어로 쓰인 경우

Ex) I want to study English. (나는 영어를 배우고 싶다.)

Ex) I'd like to have a talk with you. (나는 너와 이야기를 하고 싶다.)

(4) 진목적어로 쓰인 경우

Ex) I found it difficult to master a foreign language. (나는 외국어를 배우는 것이 어렵다는 것을 알았다.)

She thought it unwise to make him angry. (그녀는 그를 화나게 하는 것은 현명하지 않다고 생각했다.)

(5) 전치사의 목적어로 쓰인 경우

Ex) There was nothing for it but to obey him. (그에게 복종하는 것밖에 없다.)

Ex) I will do anything for you except to lend you money. (나는 너에게 돈 빌리는 것이외에 무엇이라도 하겠다.)

(6) 보어로 쓰인 경우

Ex) To see is to believe. (백문이불여일견)

Ex) His wish is to become a four-star general. (그의 소망은 4성 장군이 되는 것이다.)
